'Fugitive economic offender' [FEO] is a term defined under the Fugitive Economic Offenders Act, 2018, in India. It refers to an individual against whom a warrant of arrest in relation to a scheduled offence has been issued by any court in India and who has left the country to avoid criminal prosecution, or the FEO who is abroad and refuses to return to face criminal prosecution. The Act empowers the government to confiscate all the assets of a FEO, both within and outside the country, and provides for measures to prevent such economic offenders from evading the legal process and fleeing the country.
